Greetings from my tropical island home of Jamaica >.<
A group of 12 of us, basically all of Jeremy's friends, met up when we flew down and headed to the North Coast tourist town of Ocho Rios. We stayed at an all-inclusive resort which also happened to include rude housekeeping workers and an incompetent set of front desk workers. That's a story so full of drama and detail, but long story short; all 12 of us didn't get our rooms until about 4 hours after arriving at the hotel. It was a really bad situation and we will probably never ever stay there again. Getting passed all the stuff we went through on the first night, they gave us the first day free and we stayed till yesterday evening with free late check-out, so all in all the experience turned out okay. The hotel property was really nice, with separate garden and beach villas for everyone to stay in, lots of trees and a clean beach, so the fact that some of the services were kind of bad was a little disappointing. What made me regain some of my happiness was that they had a small gym. We partied 3 days in a row at an annual Appleton Rum event called SPF, rightfully named since 2/3 of the parties were on the beach. It made for lots of fun and a great atmosphere. From the SPF promotional Facebook page, this is what yesterday looked like.
Lots of great energy and since it was so deathly hot, having the ocean right there to run into was amazing, as well as the misting station. All-inclusive drinks and food, all day, all night. Definitely wanting to make it back for next year
I didn't want to leave, especially after the food at the hotel seemed to get better and better as we got closer to leaving. Lounging in the ocean and kayaking over the clear turquoise waves, I wished I could stay there forever. Then I got back to my home town and it didn't feel like a vacation anymore. I got that strange sensation that I lived here again and I was sneaking away to be with Jeremy at his house. I need to keep reminding myself that I'm pretty much a grown now. Here are some other pictures that I took while at the resort to give you a better idea of how beautiful it was.

And since we cant forget that I'm still all about the produce, how many people have ever seen how bananas grow? I've come to realize that not many North Americans have, understandably so. These beautiful trees where growing near out room along with the rest of the resort being covered with coconut trees, mango trees, and bread fruit trees.
Thinking of boiled green bananas makes me think of all the Jamaican comfort food I've been having since I've gotten here, the vegan versions, of course ;). The weather is hot, its humid, the food is rich and organic and flavourful. Not to mention that produce down here is so cheap compared to Canada and North America because we grow so much here locally. Yesterday, $10 (CAN) got me two medium sized bags of bananas, two papayas, seven apples, one pineapple, a large bottle of organic (not from concentrate) fruit juice and three mangoes. I can only imagine what will happen to me when I head to the outdoor market up the road from where I'm staying. And in relation to where I'm staying, if some of you have not read my very first post, I mention my boyfriend Jeremy once in a while. I am currently staying with him at his family's home which also happens to be in the same town I'm from. However, I must announce that he is no longer my boyfriend of 6 years. We have moved beyond it because..... He's now my fiance of 3 days!!!!!!!
| Green at the moment but green bananas can be eaten boiled, and taste super mega delicious with salty sides like curried tofu and bean stews. |

| He proposed to me at the resort!!! <3 <3 <3 |
I knew it was going to happen but I just didn't know when. He invited me to watch the sunset on an extension off the pier hovering over the water and after a long and tight embrace in the sea breeze, he got down on one knee. Crying? Check. Shaky hands? Check. Couldn't stop staring at my hand? Check. So many emotions all at once, but the strongest was happiness. It's exactly the ring I always pictured when I knew I wanted to be with him forever. A unique band, white gold and an opal (a rainbow of colours when the light hits it and it's also my birth stone) framed in diamonds. (I hope you're reading this mom!)
It's really exciting to start this new chapter and I'm so happy to be with him. I think tomorrow I might post about how we met :). He's swears that it's not such an interesting story but everyone seems to like it when I tell it.
I would also like to apologise for not posting that update about my 3D work. The last week before flying out was very hectic and the USB for my mouse and keyboard has vanished somehow, so using ZBursh and any of my other modelling software was very challenging and made my work flow very slow.
Cheers.
Coconut on my head, after drinking it. Nothing beats coconut water straight from the shell.
