Working out on Vacation

I get it...when you're on vacation. working out is probably the VERY last thing you wanna do...unless you're like me.  And what I mean by that is how I see the idea of a "vacation".  A vacation is a break away from the things that bring stress and tiredness to your everyday life.  Work, schooling, family, etc.  And since exercise and a good diet is what helps reduce stress and fight fatigue, these two things are not on the list of things that need to be on hold when away on holiday.  Somehow, while I'm here in Jamaica enjoying myself I have managed to keep up my routine, no matter how small, and more or less maintain my dietary needs.  Fruit is not hard to come by in the tropics ;)

With all the hanging out, going out, staying up, good food, beaches and occasional youthful behaviour (cough), I always try and make sure to find a way to fit in fitness.  That can be in any form, from swimming, yoga, jogging/ playing sports on the beach or in the water, to finding a local and well maintained gym.  Here is my personal workout that I do in the morning when none of these are in within reach during my vacations.  It kicks butt and it will help set the tone (pun intended) for the day.

Everything is listed in order of action, then it is to be repeated.

WARM-UP: 100 Jumping jacks, 1 minute of  vigorous, high-knee jogging, 2 minutes of stretching.

1. SQUATS (10-15)

2. JUMP SQUATS (10-15)

3. LUNGES (10-15)

4. PUSH-UPS (10-15)

5. BURPEES (10-15)

6. TRICEP DIPS (10-15)

COOL-DOWN: 3 minutes of stretching

REPEAT EVERYTHING FOR 5-10 SETS

Keep water with you, you'll need it! Remember to go as hard as you can without hurting yourself.  You are supposed to feel out of breath and accomplished by the end of this workout!
